> there really isn’t a good excuse to stay with Microsoft
Except, if you run nvidia optimus laptop and have mixed display DPI.
Every few months I try to run Arch on my recent laptop and it’s always a nightmare.
I was hyped that 470 driver would fix wayland in nvidia (the only half decent way to fix mixed DPIs on Linux). Lo and behold, It’s still a buggy mess that made me crawl back to windows.
Maybe on 570 I will be able to use Linux on this laptop, likely never.
I believe Wayland may be better than X with this, but my displays have the same DPI so I haven't tested myself. My displays do have different refresh rates and Wayland handles that better in my experience.
NVIDIA has been slow on the Wayland front though, but I think they may have made decent progress with recent driver releases.
In recent years I have used only laptops with non-Optimus NVIDIA, and on these I had no problems in Linux with multiple monitors with different resolutions, even if I do not use Wayland.
The NVIDIA settings program allows you to configure the monitors at any resolutions and in any geometric arrangement.
Some 6-7 years ago, I had a laptop with Optimus NVIDIA and I lost a couple of days until making it work. After that I had no problems, but the external monitor had the same resolution with the laptop display, so I have never tried mixed DPI with Optimus.
In any case, after that I have avoided Optimus and there are enough alternatives.
Not sure about Android but, for iOS users, it makes no sense trusting open source software. So, even if you choose strongbox or keepassium as they’re open source you’re still trusting some dude as you have no option to verify that the iOS build is the same as the build on github.
This is why I prefer to give my password to a company like Bitwarden and 1Password. At least, they have less incentive to be malicious than random dude on the store.
- A random dude behind an LLC is still a random dude — but now with limited liability :)
- There is a fake "KeePass" app in the AppStore. It is published by a company.
Perhaps time is more important for reputation than being incorporated?
Just out of curiosity, why would anyone subject themselves to use chrome on iOS? Sync is so important that you deal with the web without content block?
While those games (and many others) do have excellent stories, where Cyberpunk shines for me is less in the actual storyline(s) but rather in how emotionally invested I became in the characters.
The situations they were in was less interesting to me. Like, the main story itself is mediocre at best. Many of the side stories are good, but not amazing. What is absolutely top notch, though, is the characters: their personalities, how they're portrayed, their actors (voice and animation) etc. They are likable, believable and I got emotionally invested in them more than for many games with otherwise better stories.
Well, I think I’ve been waiting for a good sci-fi game that has a good storyline.
Cyberpunk kinda filled that void a bit. Battle tech is another that I enjoy, but the story was mediocre at best.
I think one of the other posters here put it plainly; the cyberpunk story was just ok, but the characters really stood out and I got emotionally invested in them.
Maybe that’s what I’m really after. Characters I actually care about.
You missed the point. He only need to take one cable with him to charge his pixel and MacBook (not at the same time) you’re suggesting him to take two cables. I will take the first option as I hate having to remember of multiple cables.
Battery life is good enough now I almost never carry cables around with me. I know not long ago this wasn't the case, but I haven't run out of power on my phone in several years.
I'm really not seeing it, maybe you travel more than I do? Definitely not an issue many will have in COVID times.
One brick. Basically I bring my Apple-issued MBP charger on the road and when I'm not charging the MBP I plug the same thing into the Pixel. Bonus: it's "rapid charging" for the Pixel.
