More often than not, they’re aware but let it slide because they pity you

Yeah, that's the social engineering part. It's a hacker trick. "Cmaan, I'm a little guy I'm a little birthday boy" https://x.com/eshear/status/1941696051884458278?s=20

With every passing headline, Windows sounds less and less like an Operating System, and more like a hobbyists revival project for a dead game I’ve never heard of

What the hell is going on at Microsoft?

Same as always I guess? Good cop, bad cop. They seem to go through this cycle every decade or so.

The old guard is no longer around, and Microsoft has also become tainted by techno bros.

Don’t be discouraged. The work that you enjoy doing is still here, and will still be here after you’ve graduated.

My best advice to you would be to learn CS the hard way (without AI).

Ignore the “AI learning tools” see on HN or mentioned by peers. Learning should be challenging so if it feels like a shortcut, it probably is. Don’t fall into that trap and you’ll be a more competent developer as a result, both with and without AI

Yep. Not just copyright but patents as well

> The Supreme Court previously rejected Thaler's request to hear his argument in a separate case involving prototypes for a beverage holder and a light beacon concerning whether AI-generated inventions should be eligible for U.S. patent protection. His patent applications were rejected by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on similar grounds.

on HN in 2026, I’d say it’s never mattered more lol

HN? You mean Molt News?

> This is the internet. Real offenders will just submit the next PR with a new alt account.

Than it escalates to a platform issue so you just report them in that case. GitHub enforcement staff handles it

“- Creating alternative accounts specifically to evade moderation action taken by GitHub staff or users”

This is what’s called a “customer complaint” at real businesses with real paying customers lol

Scale IS a problem, just not the only one.

Consequences are the inevitable solution. Accountability starting with authors, followed by organizations/institutions.

Warning for first offense, ban after

Strategies such as this would accelerate said endeavor:

Microsoft isn’t going to declare death of the PC and pivot to “cloud computers”/virtual desktops (again) just because of temporary RAM/SSD supply shortages lol

> And Amazon CEO just said it out loud about cloud computers.

And Google said Stadia would have “negative latency”

They will do whatever that will let them get more money.

Who said they cares about consumers? There's also GeForce Now.
