At this point the primary advantages of IM is that it is possible to use securely. Email just isn’t.


They aren't that different for most people. Both Gmail and Slack are

* NOT end-to-end encryption

* encrypted from server to client

* full logs hosted on server

They're essentially equally secure.


I was thinking more along the lines of signal/imessage/whatsapp/other e2e messaging applications.
