The fact that its a painful realization for Apple fans, when they wake up to "this company is not my fren", is further support for the thesis that Apple is a cult.
I've always said that they build their tools to guide their user thinking, limit the possibilities of information technology, etc. Long rant if you get me going. People say "but they make good hardware!" and that's often true... But the fact that a scourge is well crafted is not a good thing when it is being used on you.
Being appreciated for accomplishments should be plenty. Apple nearly died back in the 1990s and it was more than anything else the dream of making computers that just worked for people that kept the whole effort going. There were many positive accomplishments along the way including early introduction of wireless internet and the whole smart phone genre. Appreciating those accomplishments for what they are may inspire others to also attempt to push boundaries and make computers ever more empowering.
That Apple went astray was predictable. Working there at the time it was highly notable how when at existential risk people working at the company really came together and then as soon as the money really started to flow work life changed to including nasty office games, backstabbing, sustained efforts to get prime office assignments, and so on.
So, sure. Don't love corporations, but don't waste time hating them or avoid lauding their accomplishments either. Much of our modern world was crafted by them and we haven't yet found any other way. Just be realistic and use good tools for what they are worth.
